Introducing Secondary Market Trading: Sell Your Shares Anytime After Year One

For years, the stickiest objection to property investing has been liquidity: if you need your capital back, you might wait months or take a haircut. Fractional ownership promised to solve this. Now it does. Amtaar is rolling out a secondary market where shareholders can list and sell their stakes to other investors, turning fractional shares into something genuinely tradable.
Why secondary markets matter
A secondary market is simply a place where existing owners can sell to new buyers — not to the platform, but to each other. For stocks, this is the stock exchange. For fractional real estate, it is the mechanism that transforms a long-term hold into a flexible position.
Without it, fractional ownership is still less liquid than a whole building. With it, shares become genuinely tradable — you can exit early if your circumstances change, rebalance your portfolio, or capture gains if the property appreciates.
How it works on Amtaar
Starting this month, shareholders can list their stakes on the Amtaar secondary market after holding for at least one year. You set your asking price based on current market valuation, Amtaar facilitates the match with a buyer, and the transfer happens just like an initial purchase: your shares move, the new owner's payment arrives.
Fees remain aligned: 0.5% commission from the seller and 0.5% from the buyer if Amtaar finds the buyer, free if you do. It's the same structure as direct selling, but available instantly.
What secondary trading means for strategy
For income-focused investors, it means you can hold for rent, sell if a better opportunity appears, or lock in gains if a property appreciates ahead of expectation. For diversifiers, it means you can shift capital between properties without waiting for a buyer — rebalance your fractional portfolio the same way you would with stocks.
Most importantly: it means fractional ownership stops being a "you own it forever" proposition and becomes genuinely flexible.
The market starts right here
The first secondary listings open this month. Prices will reflect supply, demand, and property fundamentals — the same forces that move any market. Early investors who bought at launch now have an exit. New investors can participate in secondary listings if they spot opportunity. And the market itself will show what fractional real estate is worth when the rules change from "hold or wait" to "buy and sell freely."
