How Amtaar works · Step 5 / 5
Step 5: Sell your shares and take your profit
You can sell your shares after the first year, either to a buyer you find yourself (no commission) or through Amtaar on the secondary market at the market price at the time (2.5% commission). Your profit is the rise in value plus the rent you collected while you held them.
When you can sell
Each investment has a minimum holding period of one year from the date of purchase. After that, you can sell all of your shares or only some of them and keep earning rent on the rest.
Two ways to sell
- You find a buyer: Amtaar transfers the ownership to them, and no commission applies.
- Amtaar finds the buyer: Amtaar sells your shares on the secondary market at the market price at that time, with a 2.5% commission.
How to sell today
Resale is not open inside the app yet: the Resale tab shows “Coming soon”. To sell, contact Amtaar support on WhatsApp and the team will arrange the sale with you.
Your profit, and your last payout
Your total profit is the rent you received while you held your shares, plus the difference between your sale price and your purchase price. You are paid rent for the full months before the month of the sale; the month in which shares change hands is not paid to either the seller or the buyer.
Real estate is not a bank deposit: selling takes time, and the price depends on the market at the time. Treat it as a medium- to long-term investment.
